PNW Pest Management Handbooks

Mobile-friendly website

Weeds, insects, and plant diseases hinder growers’ ability to turn a profit and hassle home gardeners. Extension specialists, master gardener volunteers, and industry crop consultants rely on research-based advice to help Oregon’s growers and gardeners manage pests efficiently, safely, sustainably, and cost-effectively.

They often turn to a trio of Pacific Northwest (PNW) Extension handbooks published by EESC:

Advances in web and publishing technology have provided an opportunity to provide convenient online access to handbook content. All three websites offer print-friendly options, and the insect book also features a responsive, mobile-friendly design. Plans are in place to convert the other two handbooks to a mobile-friendly format.

The website, in combination with the print-on-demand hard-copy books, allows lead editors to update the handbooks biannually or quarterly, if they choose. It helps keep these resources useful, fresh, and interesting.
